HISTORY OF MORAY GIRLS FOOTBALL CLUB
The history of Moray Girls Football Club, Scotland

Moray Girls Football Club was formed to enable young girls to play football, to keep fit and to potentially provide a pathway to the Ladies team that had been established for many years. The ladies team started as Elgin Ladies but later changed to Lossiemouth Ladies in 1999 as they created links with Lossiemouth Highland League team, and finally Moray Ladies in 2003 with the aims of becoming a community club. However, the Ladies team unfortunately folded in 2004.

Nevertheless, the youth setup was founded in 2001 and entered an U13s and U15s team into the Aberdeen Girls League with Ronnie Taylor and Dave Christie taking the teams. The U13s played at Cooper Park and U15s played at Pinefield, both based in Elgin. At this time, the teams involved in the league were Sheddocksley, Westhill, Deeside, Aberdeen, Stonehaven, Buchan, Donside Juveniles, Cove Rangers, and Cruden Bay.

Their first season was very successful with the U15s team winning all trophies (league champions, league cup winners, knockout cup winners, and Scottish Cup winners). They had a squad of 15 players which included 5 from Inverness. A feat more remarkable due to 3 of the players being under 11 years old. Since then, other silverware won was in the 2007-2008 season when the under 13s won the league title, knockout cup runners up, league cup winners and indoor 5aside winners. In the same season, the U15s and U17s both picked up the consolation shield.

Furthermore, the club has had many players who have been involved in the SFA National Pathway. One player has represented and captained their country at Scottish School Girls in 2001-2002 season called Michaela Munro. Since then, Holly Dawson was selected for Arsenal Academy in 2006 for 2 years, and is now currently on a Scholarship in America. Players from past and present that have been and some currently still are involved in the SFA National Pathway at Development and Regional Squads are Carly Sewell, Kayleigh Stalker, Sian Hughes, Amanda Dobinson, Keryn Kirk, Lauren Anderson, Laura McLeod, Megan McCarthy, Leanne Cowie, Zoe Johnstone, Sofie Cruickshanks, Kim Goodchild and Victoria McIntosh.
